Recently, the first compression unit of the sixth compressor set in the air separation unit of the China Coal Yulin Coal Deep Processing Base project, constructed by the Inner Mongolia branch of China National Chemical Engineering Third Construction Co., Ltd., completed its initial trial run successfully. This marks a significant milestone in the construction of this project, laying a solid foundation for subsequent joint trials of the entire facility and its commissioning on schedule. The air separation unit associated with this project has a production capacity of 3×85,000 Nm³/h, resulting in an overall oxygen production capacity of 255,000 Nm³/h; it is currently the largest cluster of electrically driven air separation units under construction in China. The Inner Mongolia branch undertook the construction of the fifth and sixth air separation units, as well as the related building installation works. Faced with challenges such as the high precision requirements for lifting large equipment and the complexity of multi-disciplinary coordination, the project team adhered to scientific planning and meticulous management, successfully installing the 135-ton air compressor unit. They also provided systematic safety and technical training to all construction workers to ensure that the operations were carried out safely and under control. During the commissioning phase, the project team, in collaboration with all participating units, established a dedicated commissioning team to carry out thorough testing of key auxiliary systems such as the high-voltage electrical system of the main motor, the circulating water system, the lubricating oil system, and the CCS control system. By continuously optimizing operational parameters and overcoming various technical challenges, it was possible to ensure the efficient progress of the critical construction tasks, ultimately resulting in the successful first trial run of the compressor. As the first large-scale coal chemical project approved by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment since the introduction of the **\"3060\" dual-carbon goals, the China Coal Yulin Project is of great significance for promoting the clean and efficient use of coal and ensuring **energy security. The main construction components of the project include an annual production capacity of 2.2 million tons of methanol, 900,000 tons of polyolefins, and 250,000 tons per year for LDPE/EVA chain extension and elongation processes. Once it is completed and put into operation, it will significantly facilitate the clean conversion of coal resources into high-end chemical products, drive the upgrading of regional industries and economic development, and inject new momentum into the advanced, diversified, and low-carbon development of China’s coal chemical industry. The successful trial operation of this first compressor set represents another significant achievement for the Inner Mongolia branch in project construction.
