For some containers, when both higher operating temperatures and lower ambient temperatures need to be considered, how should the design temperature be specified? For example: for a liquid ammonia storage tank without insulation, the design temperature is 50 degrees. But if the average monthly minimum temperature is -10 degrees, should the design temperature be specified as 50°C/-10°C, or just 50°C? I would appreciate some guidance.
Our company specifies that the design temperature should be filled in as: -10℃/50℃......

-10℃ probably doesn’t need to be included in the design requirements, right? Are there any requirements regarding low temperatures? Such as impact tests, etc.
Enter temperature: 50℃/-10℃ or 50℃; I think either is acceptable. Our company’s designed temperature is 50°C.
The design temperature must be specified in full, that is, from -10 to 60. However, the calculations should be carried out separately or based on the most stringent conditions.

I think the design temperature isn’t a range; it should be a single value. If you take a closer look at 150 or the tolerance specifications, it will become clear. Regarding the situation described by the original poster, I understand that the design temperature should be set at 50°C, while the minimum design metal temperature is -10°C℃
I agree with the person above; instead of entering a range, a single value should be used
Enter -10/50 for the operating temperature and 50 for the design temperature. Then specify this in the technical requirements; use the strictest standards for material selection and calculations, and it is sufficient to indicate only the strictest values in the calculation sheet
