It shouldn’t be. Heat exchangers also fall under the category of pressure vessels; for the normal flow of gases or liquids, a discharge device is sufficient. It can be a relief valve or a vent valve; it isn’t necessary to use a safety valve. Our heat exchangers are pressure vessels, and there are no such regulations regarding regular calibration.
A safety relief device is necessary; it can be installed on the pressure vessel or on the system pipelines connected to it. Safety relief devices are not just safety valves.
