Our company currently uses finned-tube heat exchangers in the cooling section to cool the hydrogen-nitrogen mixture from 300°C to 150°C using cooling water. Due to the requirements of different manufacturing processes, it is now necessary to increase the cooling capacity. If finned tube heat exchangers are to be continued to be used, the only option is to add more fins in order to increase the heat exchange area; however, due to space constraints, it is not possible to increase the area. Therefore, I would like to ask for recommendations on other types of heat exchangers that could be used in such situations
If it’s going to be used, it seems quite difficult to fit it in that space. I’ve contacted a manufacturer of finned tube heat exchangers and they are currently calculating how much more power can be generated by increasing the number of fins without enlarging the volume, as well as whether the pressure loss will increase significantly. I’m not sure whether the so-called space constraint mentioned by the original poster refers to length or height You mentioned it should be an external finned heat exchanger; if space is the only constraint, feel free to contact me within the facility and provide me with the relevant parameters. Both length and height are limited, which is quite problematic. I want to know what the difference in heat exchange capacity is between internal and external arrangements within the same size. Also, since it involves drawing in the circulating gas from inside the furnace, does using an internal arrangement require a more powerful fan?

Replace with a fully welded plate; also pay attention to increasing the water circulation volume and checking whether the pipeline system is suitable.
Increasing the water volume does not yield significant effects, and the air flow is already at its maximum; (we are now considering replacing the fan)
