Coking units are devices used for processing low-quality oils in the oil refining industry, and they play a crucial role. The reaction sections, particularly the heating furnaces in coking units, are of utmost importance; the proper operation of these heating furnaces is essential for the normal functioning of the unit and for the quality of the products produced. In the large-scale refining industry, genuine state-owned enterprises carry out maintenance every 2-3 years. However, local oil refining facilities conduct maintenance based on market conditions. During maintenance, all components must be opened up for inspection. But coking heaters are not only maintained during scheduled maintenance periods; they also require cleaning and maintenance while in operation, depending on the raw materials being processed. Therefore, I invite all colleagues to share their thoughts on the problems identified or encountered during the maintenance of the heating furnaces in coking units. 1. What is the nature of the raw materials processed by your coking plant’s heating furnaces during normal operation? 2. What is the frequency of online coking cleaning for the heating furnaces in your coking unit during normal production? 3. What are the main maintenance tasks carried out on the coking heaters in your coking unit during major overhauls? 4. How do you detect the wall thickness of the furnace tubes, as well as the extent of erosion and corrosion, during major overhauls of the heating furnaces in your coking units? 5. Share your experiences and lessons from maintenance work.
