I obtained a certificate last year, but it was more for show. The person responsible for testing the boiler water called in sick, so I had to take over his role. How is the pH value measured? 3. What is the difference between phenolphthalein alkalinity and total alkalinity? Personal suggestion: The poster should first figure out what tests need to be conducted and what the specific required values are for the standards regarding the boiler water and feed water in a 6-ton steam boiler (one that operates under pressure). Then comes how to test these projects, what instruments are needed, and so on.
1. Phenolphthalein alkalinity: The alkalinity caused by all hydroxide ions and half of the carbonate ions in water, determined by titration with phenolphthalein indicator at pH 8.3; it is usually combined with the methyl red endpoint alkalinity. Total alkalinity: refers to the total amount of substances in water that can accept H+, that is, those that can undergo neutralization reactions with strong acids. Using methyl orange as an indicator, at a pH of 4.3, the total alkalinity is greater than the phenolphthalein alkalinity. 2. The water supply is soft water, water that has passed through ion exchange resins. Boiler water is the water inside a boiler; its hardness is higher than that of the feed water, and its pH value is also different. The alkalinity is also higher than that of the feed water. In fact, the boiler water is concentrated feedwater.
The feed water is water used for boilers; it is treated chemical water, and its pH is measured using a pH meter. I’m not sure what you mean by ‘pot water’ – is it the steam that’s produced?
