I’m asking fellow sailors: how is the volume of a storage tank calculated? What is the nominal volume? Effective volume? Full volume? There are also various volumes, it’s really hard to figure out!

We have a dome tank with a capacity of 5,000 cubic meters, a diameter of 20 meters, and a cylinder height of 16 meters (the actual wall height, including the angle steel reinforcements, is 16.08 meters); the calculated volume is 314*16=5024. There is also a height at the center of the tank bottom, with a slope of 15 per thousand; based on the volume of a cone, 15.7 cubic meters need to be removed. In any case, it should be around 5,000, and not less than 5,000.
I might not have asked the right person; I still haven’t found an exact calculation method. I was wondering, for this amount of around 5000, by how much can it be increased? In other words, I want to know how much volume can be added. For the tank with a capacity of 5400, can I mark it as 5000?
For example, one of the storage tanks in our factory has a capacity of 8,300 cubic units; logically, it should not exceed 50 cubic units.
Total volume refers to the calculated volume, which is the overall capacity of the tank for storing material. The nominal volume is the capacity that can be filled, taking into account the properties of the material; it is the volume indicated. The effective volume is the actual capacity for loading, taking safety factors into account. Total volume > Nominal volume > Effective volume

The seventh floor is the correct answer. For storage containers, the effective volume is roughly 80%-90% of the nominal volume; this amount is referred to as the loading capacity. However, since devices such as overflow pipes and level gauges must be installed, the total volume is necessarily greater than the nominal volume. Actually, the volume of each tank is fixed, and the exact amount of material that can be stored in it is also fixed; moreover, the maximum amount allowed to be stored is fixed as well. Let’s take an example – it’s just a simple example, so please don’t take it seriously. Tank A has a volume of 10, but when filled with material B, it can only hold 9 units of that material. For safety reasons, only 70% of the tank’s capacity can be used, which means that this tank can hold at most 7 units of material B. This is just my personal opinion; if there are any mistakes, please feel free to correct them.
