As the title suggests, I am facing the need to upgrade the cold water supply system of a chiller unit. What are the design requirements in this regard? What equipment is necessary if the water quality needs to be treated?
Soft water is used for make-up water in circulating cooling towers, and resin tanks are employed for producing soft water. For cooling towers, normal operation and maintenance are sufficient; ensure that the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet water of the screw compressor is within normal limits. Generally, a pump is used to increase the pressure of the inlet water, while the outlet water should be released at no pressure
Cooling towers can be used for recycled water. There are no special requirements regarding water quality. The manufacturer probably doesn’t have any specific requirements outlined in the manual for screw water-cooled units. I haven’t seen it
A suitable cooling tower is required, or cooling water must be supplied continuously. A water treatment unit can be installed in the cooling water system to reduce impurities in the water and prevent the growth of algae
The cooling tower should be selected based on the power of your unit, while the circulation water pump should be chosen according to the resistance in your piping system. For water treatment, there are now professional water treatment companies available; it’s best to leave this task to them. If you don’t want to give it to them, add the potion regularly as needed and check the water quality yourself. The regular maintenance of the water system should be determined based on its operating conditions
