In a heating furnace, are the furnace tubes the same as heat pipes? What are their working principles and definitions? Does \"finned tube\" mean the same thing?
Are the furnace tubes in the tubular heating furnace heat pipes?
A heat pipe operates through a cycle in which the medium inside heats up and vaporizes, then cools down and condenses. It’s a bit different from furnace tubes. Finned tubes add fins outside the furnace tube to enhance heat transfer, thereby increasing the heat transfer area.
The fluid flowing through the furnace tubes is residue oil; it’s a heat-tube type flue gas system
1. The furnace tube is an empty tube, while the heat pipe contains a working fluid; the heat pipe has a cold end and a hot end. 2. In a furnace tube, heat is transferred directly to the fluid inside the tube through its inner wall, whereas in a heat pipe, heat is first transferred to the medium inside. The heated medium expands in volume, thereby transferring the heat absorbed from the hot end to the cold end. So it is indirect heat transfer. Finned tubes are merely a way to increase the heat transfer area outside the furnace tubes. There are furnace tubes with fins, as well as heat pipes with fins.
