I work in the field of process engineering. The questions you’re asking are too specific for me; they might relate to equipment design. I’ll try to answer them. The principle behind a baffle demister is to use centrifugal force to throw liquid droplets against the side walls of the demister, thereby achieving gas-liquid separation. For a detailed calculation, it is first necessary to determine the critical droplet diameter based on surface tension. Once the gas velocity in the empty tower is known, the approximate trajectory along which the droplets can be thrown out can be calculated using the centripetal force formula, thereby enabling the design of the demister’s structure. I’m not sure about the specifications; the weight should be determined after performing strength calculations on the structure, and once the thickness is known, the mass can be figured out.
I checked what we’ve done before: the internals and welded components of a baffle demister with a tower diameter of 3.6 meters weigh 2 tons (made of 316L material). You can make an estimate based on the tower diameter; it should be more or less the same.
