Dear colleagues: How does your company calculate equipment quotes? For example, what is the coefficient for material prices? How much is stainless steel and carbon steel per square meter for heat exchangers? Thanks first
For carbon steel equipment, the costs are generally estimated as half for labor and half for materials.

Each unit is in a different situation, and moreover, this information may be classified, so it’s not possible to disclose it completely.
It’s hard to say exactly. For example, in the case of a small heat exchanger, it can’t be priced per ton; instead, it should be quoted based on the number of units. The price per ton for large heat exchangers also varies; even when the material and size are the same, differences in complexity lead to different prices.
Simple: Tonnage x unit price. Complex: By container type x unit price. More complex: Calculate each component individually – material cost per unit, processing fee, profit. Even more complex: Production cost + other expenses + profit. Still more complex: Lower when there are no orders, higher when there are many tasks; higher when payment conditions are good, lower when they are poor. Market-oriented approach: Earn just enough to cover labor costs when there is no work
1. 304 heat exchangers: 120,000–180,000 per ton; 316L heat exchangers: 160,000–250,000 per ton (fixed type, for estimation purposes). 2. Heat exchangers may have different materials for the tube side and the shell side; in some cases, the materials for these two sides are SS stainless steel or CS carbon steel. Therefore, it is inaccurate to provide a quote based solely on the weight, but an estimation can be given. 3. The price varies depending on the type of heat exchanger; there are differences between floating-head, fixed, and U-type exchangers. 4. The bid should be prepared through detailed calculations by a quoting engineer; every company has such engineers, though smaller companies may not. An estimation is made based on the unit price per ton.
