For acid gas washing towers, the main medium involved is wet hydrogen sulfide. A flame arrester is installed at the top of the washing tower; the material used for that arrester last time was aluminum, but it corroded and became damaged within less than half a year. After doing some research online, it seems that preventing corrosion caused by wet hydrogen sulfide is a difficult problem. What materials do other professionals use in this regard? What other good solutions are there?
To upgrade the material of the fire arrestor’s internal components, Monel is recommended. If it can be replaced regularly, then check and replace it on a regular basis. Purchase spare parts in advance.
