The floors of most production workshops and factories, due to long-term use or substandard construction, develop dusting and sanding, are covered in scratches, and are very prone to damage. Generally, the methods for dealing with damaged surfaces are limited to the following: 1. Re-laying a layer of concrete, which can completely fix the damaged surface; however, this increases the thickness of the existing structure, requires time for curing, poses a risk of further damage, and involves waste of resources among other disadvantages ; 2. Laying marble, granite, steel plates, etc., can improve the performance of the floor surface, but it is very costly; moreover, there are disadvantages such as the seams in the floor surface being prone to loosening ; 3. Applying resin paint ensures full coverage of the surface and prevents dust accumulation, but the surface isn’t hard enough and is prone to scratches; it improves aesthetics only, with little change in practicality ; Currently, for factory workshops and warehouses, a practical method for floor treatment is penetration curing. The principle behind this method is that the sealing curing agent penetrates effectively into the pores of the concrete; through a series of chemical reactions and subsequent mechanical polishing, it is possible to **increase the hardness, wear resistance, and gloss of the concrete, as well as to seal the surface so that it does not become dusty or sandy. Additionally, this treatment provides resistance to penetration and carbonation.
I feel that whether it’s concrete, cement, or mortar flooring, to prevent issues such as sanding and powdering, applying appropriate protective treatments to the surface at the time of construction – such as applying one or several layers of epoxy-cement sealant – could help extend its service life.
