What models of benzene detectors perform well in the oil loading areas of refineries? We use two models of benzene detectors here, but they trigger alarms frequently. According to the technical staff from the manufacturer, benzene vapor detectors are relatively sensitive combustible gas detectors; they need to be set for an environment with pure benzene vapor. In an environment containing either combustible gases or benzene vapor, an alarm will generally be triggered in the presence of combustible gases.

The old standards classified benzene as a flammable gas, while the current national standards define it as a toxic gas for detection purposes. Please check the two sensors: are they labeled with %LEL or PPM (%)? The former refers to sensors for detecting flammable gases. Gas detectors are very sensitive, operating at the PPM level; therefore, only when the leakage level in the device is low (such as with the seals on pumps or the packing in valves) do these detectors fail to give an alarm. In contrast, the alarm threshold for detecting benzene as a combustible gas is much higher, and an alarm is triggered only in the event of a severe leakage. With an emphasis on environmental friendliness these days, benzene is classified as a toxic gas, which in turn leads to stricter requirements for the venting of such devices. This is the contradiction. . .
The PID900 from Nanyou Nuoan works well, but it’s expensive.
