Our company has three high-pressure steam heat exchangers in total, but there have been continuous leaks in the tubes of these heat exchangers. After taking it apart for repair welding, problems arose again after not long. The three heat exchangers are from three different manufacturers, with a steam pressure of 40 kilograms. What causes this?
Is it steam on the other leg as well, besides steam? Where is the leak?
Is it the contact area between the tube sheet and the tubes, or is there a leak in the tubes? I think it’s due to an unreasonable design – for example, the tube sheet of the expansion joint is too thin, without taking factors such as steam fluctuations into account.
Since it’s from three different manufacturers, the material quality is likely to be fine. Has the quality of the steam been monitored? Is the CL-content in it high? Where exactly is the leak? What is the temperature? Is the steam carrying water? Providing more parameters helps with the analysis! ! ! !
For the high-pressure steam with two heat exchangers, one flows through the shell side while the other flows through the tube side. The leaks occurred at all the areas where the tubes were welded to the tube sheet. After welding, pressure tests showed that these areas were leak-free, but once the system was put into operation, leaks reappeared at those welded areas

The steam pressure is 35 kilograms and the temperature is 250 – this should be superheated steam. It’s clear whether water is present or not (currently, we use steam produced on-site, which is not far away). In the past, water contamination occurred when external steam was used, requiring continuous drainage of the pipeline network; CL- has been tested and meets the requirements. The leak is at the weld between the tube sheet and the tube bank

Is the leaking area repaired by welding or is it a new leak?
