The finished product in the saline solution occasionally contains free chlorine (about 2–4 PPm). Once this saline solution is transferred to the 150 saline tank, the free chlorine cannot be removed. This question has been extensively discussed on the forum; OP, it’s best if you search first for the question you want to ask. Let me briefly explain here: where does free chlorine come from? Is it brought in by adding acid to the brine in the resin tower? ? If it is recommended, treat it by changing the salt or acid, or by using more salt or acid. Too high a sulfate level has an impact on electrolysis: it reduces electrical efficiency, increases oxygen evolution, and lowers the concentration of brine, among other effects.
When anhydrous sodium sulfite is added to saltwater, it becomes hydrated; just a small amount of it is needed, so there is no significant impact. However, the impurities introduced into the system by sodium sulfite must be removed through adsorption in a chelating resin column, which may increase the load on that column. Sodium sulfite turns into sodium sulfate once it enters the electrolyzer, with effects as described above.
