Due to the high resistance of the benzene washing tower, hot oil cleaning was ineffective. Upon opening the manhole, it was found that a large amount of sludge-like substance was attached to the distributor; therefore, a company specialized in cleaning benzene washing towers was contacted to carry out a cyclic cleaning process, the composition of the cleaning agent not being disclosed. After cleaning and resuming production, the color of the products produced turned dull with a slight green tint. After selling the crude benzene, the supplier sent samples for testing regarding chlorine levels; our factory is not capable of conducting such tests, so we don’t know whether the levels in the storage tanks are above the allowed limits.
