When using high-temperature ceramic filters for filtration in coal-fired boilers in the past, the dust content after filtration was around 0.2 mg/NM3. The condensate taken from the process gas entering separator No. 1 last time showed that the water quality wasn’t very good – it was turbid with a high dust content, which illustrates this point. Furthermore, even if dust from the process gas enters, a coarse gas filter is usually installed in front of the converter in the system, which can serve to filter and absorb it. However, there is a limit to everything; if the level is excessively high, it is necessary to conduct an analysis and investigation based on the actual circumstances. After all, the entry of large amounts of dust into the system can lead to catalyst poisoning, which represents a significant risk :):).
Raw gas contains ash, so there are naturally deviations between the operating values and the design values. When the raw gas contains ash, in order to prevent the pressure differences before and after the heat exchangers and the catalyst in the shift zone from being affected, some systems incorporate a pre-heater before the shift zone, others use filters, and still others adopt a combination of both approaches. However, the gasification process achieves the best cleaning effect; in the conversion process, there is no need to add additional pre-heating vessels or filters (two filters would even be required for switching back and forth).
