I would like to ask everyone: Since granular aerobic sludge has not yet been formed and there is a lot of flocculent structure, can granular anaerobic sludge be added to the aerobic tank to accelerate the formation of granular aerobic sludge?
This should be the stage where biofilm formation occurs, and the sludge has not yet formed flocs. It is not recommended to add anaerobic sludge, as the biological communities differ and do not contribute effectively to the formation of flocs in aerobic sludge ; Recommendation 1: Reduce aeration and keep DO between 1 and 2 ; 2. Change the water or supply water continuously while adding nutrients to help the bacterial flocculus form as soon as possible ; 3. Adding an appropriate amount of activated carbon can promote and facilitate the rapid formation of bacterial aggregates ; 4. Add an appropriate amount of PAC or PAM to promote floc formation ; 5. Sludge removal should be carried out promptly once SV30 reaches 5%.
The formation of aerobic granular sludge is also conditional. I’ve only heard that aerobic granular sludge has been cultivated in laboratories; I’m not familiar with any practical applications of it. The introduction of anaerobic sludge into the aerobic tank leads to a decrease in the aerobic removal rate. This is my personal opinion for reference only.

According to the principles of thermodynamics, increasing the hydrophobicity of the cell surface enhances the affinity between cells, leading to stronger connections between them and the formation of a dense structure; this further prompts the aggregated bacteria to separate from the aqueous phase. Therefore, it can be said that the hydrophobicity of the cell surface is an important driving force behind the self-aggregation of microorganisms. B. Wilen et al. demonstrated that the higher the number of hydrophobic bacteria in the inoculated sludge, the more… The faster the aerobic granular sludge with good settling properties is formed. Therefore, the poster can add anaerobic tank sludge to increase the variety of microorganisms.
