I would like to ask: must the machinery used in sulfonation reactions be explosion-proof?
Is the sulfonation reaction listed as a hazardous process? If so, it definitely needs to be taken into consideration. If not, one still needs to check whether there is a risk of explosion; if there is, then it should be taken into account. Of course, it’s best to address safety issues

It depends on your usage amount and the properties of the material. If the material belongs to Category B or higher, or if the operating temperature is above its boiling point, it’s advisable to use explosion-proof equipment. If it’s Category C or lower, and the operating temperature is below its boiling point, explosion-proof equipment isn’t necessary
It depends on your production medium. Oxidizing and combustion-supporting media belong to Category B (such as the fuming sulfuric acid mentioned by someone above).
