The pipeline of the device is to be purged – what isolation measures should be taken for the instruments? Should the valves, temperature and flow meters be removed or isolated via a bypass line? What if the valves and flow meters are removed, leaving breaks between the pipelines?

It depends on whether the cleaning of the device is done before operation or after shutdown. Commissioning purge: The flow meter must be removed, as well as the orifice plate and the control valve; for the remaining instruments, it is sufficient to close their upstream valves, with no change in temperature ; Shutdown purging: Instrument isolation is not required (except for instruments with low temperature tolerance), and instrument purging is carried out after the process has been thoroughly purged.
On lines with double tracks, use those tracks; when installing blind flanges, it is essential to ensure that the gas used for purging upstream does not enter the container or other equipment such as instruments. The instruments that are easy to remove can be taken off directly, and replaced with short sections. If it can be ensured that the upstream area has been thoroughly purged, the instruments can be connected for purging as well; however, care must be taken regarding pressure, and it is also necessary to consider whether the purging medium could cause damage to the instruments. There is no need to disassemble the valve any further; a blind plate in place will not cause any problems.
Instrument valves, flow meters, etc. must all be removed and set aside separately. Blow down the system using a temporary short-circuit connection for the removed port!
The instrument components must be isolated or removed. Instrument components are very precise and prone to contamination or damage; therefore, they cannot be purged directly in the system. The disconnected ports can be connected with temporary short circuits to complete the system purging.
Is it the case that during startup purging, the main concern is debris such as weld slag in the pipes, which could damage the instruments, while during shutdown purging, the main concern is residual process fluids in the pipes, which would not cause damage to the instruments?
Here, before starting up the operation, we usually isolate the valves, flow meters, thermometers, pressure gauges, level gauges; analytical instruments also need to be isolated.
