When is an impact shield used? When is an anti-impact rod used?
Simply put, the shock plate is installed at the inlet end of the cold and hot media entering the heat exchanger; some of these plates have evenly distributed holes, which serve to cushion and distribute the flow. In those that are not equipped with such devices, flow media with high velocities entering the heat exchanger require anti-impact plates. The anti-impact rod is installed inside the shell side of the heat exchanger, with its ends fixed to the baffle plates (tube sheets) in order to secure them. Generally, those with baffle plates also have anti-impact rods.
An anti-impact plate is installed at the inlet of a regular heat exchanger. For turbine condensers, anti-scour rods are installed at the inlet end to prevent the condensed steam from scouring the cooling tubes.
Why do devices with baffle plates usually have anti-impact rods? There is no direct connection between the two
Since the baffle and the tubes are not welded together but rather pass through each other, they are movable; over time, they will gradually move due to the force exerted by the medium. The function of the baffle is to secure the tube banks, extend the flow path, reduce dead zones, increase surging, and improve heat exchange efficiency.
A spacers are there between the baffle plates, aren’t they? How can it move slowly? This is something that can’t happen!
If you don’t know, don’t just make things up. You are referring to the tie rod; it is used to fix the baffle. The anti-impact rod also serves to prevent impacts; for details on it, refer to 6.8.1.3.4 in GB/T 151
When the impact shield is inadequate or cannot be installed, an impact rod can be used.
