Dear experts: Can wear and tear of the labyrinth gas seal at the exhaust end of a screw compressor cause an increase in the pressure in the compressor’s balance tube? Thank you.
It should, as the labyrinth wears out, the resistance decreases; thus the pressure drop of gas from the back end of the labyrinth to inside the balance tube becomes smaller, and the pressure rises.
