I currently have a glass evaporation apparatus similar to a rotary evaporator, and I have a few questions regarding vacuum creation: 1. Is it feasible to collect the water condensed from the secondary steam in a tank, and then connect a pipe from that tank to the buffer tank attached to the vacuum pump? How do I drain the water from the tank? It can’t be released directly, right? 2. Make a small hole in the condenser and create a vacuum so that the condensed water can be drained away directly. The location of this hole should be chosen in such a way that it functions similarly to the glass condensers used in regular experiments
A valve can be added to the inlet and outlet of the tank, and then it can be filmed.
Are you saying that every time it’s used, the valve should be opened to release the negative pressure before draining?
Did you install it using the first method I mentioned? Is it possible to use the second method? If so, let’s discuss it in detail
A dedicated condensate collection tank is installed, with four openings: one for condensate collection, one for the vacuum pump, one for connection to the atmosphere, and one for draining at the lowest point. A valve is installed on each of these connections; to collect condensate, the connections for condensate collection and the vacuum pump are activated, while to drain liquid, the connections to the atmosphere and the lowest point are used.
The first installation method is the common approach of using balance pipes; to allow discharge, it is necessary to relieve pressure. Or, if the installation height permits, why not use a atmospheric leg as a liquid seal? The receiving tank is designed to operate at constant pressure.
