Aquaculture wastewater: COD 4700, ammonia nitrogen 1000, total phosphorus 65; 300 tons/day. Emission standards: Grade A, Issue 1: Is 1,000 for ammonia nitrogen really that high? The owner said it has been tested. 2: Process flow: equalization tank + solid-liquid separator + sedimentation tank + UASB + AO + MBR. What are everyone’s thoughts? 3: Should stripping be considered? If so, where is the most appropriate place to implement it?

The ammonia nitrogen level in aquaculture wastewater is generally quite high; in some facilities, it can exceed 10,000. If stripping is used, it’s best to do it before the biochemical step.

With our pretreatment and advanced oxidation process, the COD level is likely to be less than or equal to 500; if a lower level is required, the operating costs will increase accordingly. As for phosphorus, industry tests have shown that this oxidation technology achieves a phosphorus removal rate of 90%.
