The displacement must be thorough; check each section of the pipeline to ensure it has been displaced. Before performing any hot work, first determine the level of risk associated with it, check whether the equipment used is properly isolated, and decide whether an environmental analysis or an analysis inside the tower or tank is necessary; have the safety department present to sign off on the analysis. Sampling is generally done from analysis points or drain lines; it is necessary to ensure adequate purging to prevent stagnant air from affecting the analysis results. A flammability meter can be used to determine the concentration of combustible gases, or a comprehensive analysis can be conducted.
We are now using nitrogen for displacement. Does analyzing flammable gases with a gas detector refer to the methanol vapor content?
