The hydraulic diaphragm metering pump has so many pointers on its pressure gauge – what values do they indicate respectively? Please explain
Among multi-pointer pressure gauges, the one that stands out the most is the one equipped with upper and lower limit pointers.
For diaphragm metering pumps, if the pressure gauge shows that the diaphragm has been punctured, what’s the use of having upper and lower limits?
If a properly functioning double-diaphragm metering pump shows pressure, it indicates that the diaphragms are damaged. If the pressure gauge still shows reading after the diaphragms have been replaced for maintenance, then there is air between the diaphragms. Use the vacuum pumping tool provided by the metering pump manufacturer to evacuate air from between the diaphragms, and check that the pressure reading returns to zero.
There are no pictures, so I’ll just describe it roughly. One is the actual pressure pointer, another is the set pressure pointer; there’s also a short pointer used to adjust the set pressure – it allows one to adjust the desired pressure level.
I’ve seen them too; they seem to be called contact-type pressure gauges. There is a pointer that indicates the pressure setting value, and once that value is reached, the pointer will show it. This information is sent to the DCS, and the purpose of having such a setting value is for reference purposes
