Our factory has a reducer manufactured by Nanjing Gearbox Factory. The labyrinth oil seal on the input shaft of this reducer leaks lubricant; under normal conditions, the leakage rate is one drop every 20 seconds. However, on rainy days, the leakage rate increases to one drop every 4 seconds, and it returns to normal once the rain stops. We would like to know the principle behind this phenomenon. Thank you.
Is the operating temperature of the reducer high?
The gearbox operates at normal temperature, with the lubricant temperature at 50 degrees Celsius.
There shouldn’t be any relationship between the two, or at least it’s not a significant one! The leakage amount may be related to the oil temperature or the workload; check whether there is a relationship between the equipment’s workload on rainy days and sunny days!
Is the temperature difference large between sunny and rainy days? Are there any other differences?
The pressure drops in rainy weather, or it’s the drop in temperature on rainy days that causes the leakage gaps to widen~~ It’s up to the original poster to decide~~
Could the pressure be reduced appropriately? Try lowering the nitrogen seal pressure of the fuel tank
On rainy days, the air humidity is high and the temperature is low; the lubricant’s temperature is high, so it needs to absorb energy and cool down quickly, which leads to faster oil leakage.
