I would like to ask everyone: what kind of pumps are generally used for pumping liquid ammonia in denitration processes? Are metering pumps used for this purpose? Please give your advice
This post was last edited by Ah on 2015-7-22 at 14:59. For loading and unloading vehicles, use a compressor or a vane pump or gear pump. I’ve never seen one use a metering pump, but it seems there’s no problem with it.
Typical metering pumps are plunger pumps; liquid ammonia has a low vaporization temperature, so it tends to vaporize inside the cylinder, making such pumps difficult to operate. It is recommended to use a canned motor pump.
The process conditions are insufficient; there is no data on pressure, temperature, flow rate, etc., so it’s hard to say. At room temperature with liquid ammonia, a sliding vane pump is better than a canned motor pump, especially in hot summer weather :)
Diaphragm metering pumps are widely used for pumping liquid ammonia
There is no use in using a metering pump to deliver liquid ammonia! A shielded pump or a sliding vane pump is used during unloading, but once the liquid ammonia enters the storage tank, no further action is needed; from then on, it is transported through its own evaporation. Only in the winters in the north, when temperatures are very low, is a transfer pump provided; this is usually a canned motor pump or a vane pump. Ammonia water is pumped using a metering pump; it has little volatility, so any ordinary pump can be used. In the high-flow circulation module, multi-stage vertical pumps are primarily used for pumping, with control valves then used to adjust the flow rate of each spray gun. Using a metering pump will cause pulsation, and the spraying effect will be poorer.
Piston pumps are generally used! Ensure good insulation!
Indeed, in the incident, the metering pumps used for desulfurization and denitration were injecting ammonia water and alkaline solutions. It is absolutely no problem to transport ammonia solution using a metering pump. Liquid ammonia doesn’t seem to be used in this way very often.
