Dear fellow sailors, I’ve just started working in the machinery processing industry; there are many things I don’t understand and I’m quite confused, so I’ve come here to ask for advice. I want to figure things out first before replying to the foreigner’s email, so as not to be seen as too inexperienced. I tried uploading the drawings for half a day, but it kept failing; I’ll just describe them orally then. A picture came in from abroad of a polymeric idler; it seems to be called a plastic idler after all. Some data is written in the data sheet of the drawing. In the last row of the data table, there is a column for bearing, and the value written in that cell is 6305. So a few questions arise. 1. Have the dimensions of bearings been standardized globally? Just by writing down 6305, can the inner and outer diameters as well as the thickness be uniquely determined? I see that both NSK and FAG offer the 6305 model, and their dimensions seem to be exactly the same. 2. There are many further sub-models of 6305 available online, such as P4, P5, P6, etc.; the difference seems to lie in their weight? Is it due to the different materials? 3. The foreigner wrote “bearing6305” in the data table – does this mean that after finishing the processing of the main component, we need to install a bearing on the roller shaft as well? Should we still leave a groove for fitting a 6305 bearing? I would be extremely grateful if an expert could give me some advice!
1. It is a 6305 bearing. 2. P3, P5, C2, etc. are all precision grades and clearance grades for bearings; in other words, the tolerance levels differ, which results in slight differences in weight. It doesn’t matter; what you need is a bearing with medium precision and CN clearance. 3. The bearing needs to be installed properly
Bearing6305 means that the bearing is of type 6305. Could the moderator post a picture so we can take a look?
6305 refers to the bearings on both sides of the idler roller; there is an oil enclosure outside these bearings, similar to a bearing housing. Generally, when replacing them, it’s possible to replace only the bearings, but when they were manufactured by the original manufacturer, they were likely sold as a complete unit!
