However, in terms of calorific value, anthracite has a higher calorific value and higher gasification efficiency. If anthracite is mixed into the coal slurry after successful feeding, could this lead to (higher) gasification efficiency?
Bituminous coal can be used as a feedstock for gasification, with high gasification efficiency; it was previously used in Wansheng, Chongqing, and the results were satisfactory. . . . . . . . . . .
The development trend of gasifiers is not to be picky; they need to adapt proactively to the local types of coal. If you want bituminous coal and there isn’t any available locally, what do you do? A gasifier that is too picky about its fuel sources is doomed to have very limited prospects for development
The development of gasifiers has always been aimed at refinement, and adapting to local coal types is only suitable for enterprises that have access to coal. Since coal is not produced in the south, does that mean coal chemical industry development cannot take place there? The advantage of the south is its abundant water resources, proximity to markets, and the ability to use high-quality coal to improve efficiency – so why not give it a try? It’s because there is coal locally; initially fixed-bed reactors were used, but with technological advancements, why was the fluidized-bed technology chosen? Gas-flow beds have strict requirements for coal, yet they are developing rapidly – how can it be said that there is little room for growth?
Bituminous coal has a high degree of metamorphism, a high specific gravity, and poor slurry-forming properties, making it unsuitable for use in water-coal slurry gasification. If mixed in, a small amount should be sufficient. Bituminous coal ash has a high melting point, and theoretically this can increase the gasification temperature, thereby improving gasification efficiency.

Why struggle with bituminous coal? Are there any economic advantages?
