Could an experienced colleague please explain how to install blind flanges on oil or solvent delivery pipelines during cutting and repair welding, as well as how to remove the solvent from areas where welding is being performed?
The blind plate should be installed on the valve flange, on the side closest to where welding will take place, with one at each end. Pipeline purging can be done using water, steam, or nitrogen; finally, steam should be used for purging. Generally, purging is carried out first, followed by the installation of blind flanges.
