How does a circulating fluidized bed boiler prevent the superheater from overheating in the event of a loss of plant power?
It is primarily achieved by opening the superheater drain to cool the superheater with a small amount of steam; if necessary, the main steam header is slightly opened (manually) to vent steam to the atmosphere.
