The 105M3 polymerization reactors each have their own separate small circulating water system, while the 5 reactors share one large circulating water system. Currently, a large amount of gas (air) is returning through the return pipeline in this large circulating water system into one of the reactors, causing fluctuations in the flow rate of the circulating water in that reactor. What could be the reason for this? The check valve at the outlet of our No. 3 boiler circulation pump lacks a valve disc; the pressure of the circulation pump remains stable at 0.55 MPa, but the flow rate can vary from 0 to 900 M3/H (the normal flow rate of the circulation pump is 750 M3/H). It is likely that gas is causing this issue. What could be the reason? Please help to solve it
It is possible that a considerable amount of air accumulated in the upper part of the inverted U-shaped water pipe after maintenance; once water flowed in, the circulating water trapped the air in the upper space of the pipe, resulting in air blockage. A manual or automatic vent valve can be installed at the top of the inverted U-shaped water pipe to remove air.
For units of 105 boilers or more, forced circulation is generally used, along with an additional large-scale common circulation system. You can add a row of drain valves at the U-turn in the return pipe
Is it confirmed that the flow meter is fine? Installation location and such.
The circulation of water in the 105-tank system is achieved through a tank circulation pump. The top of the tank jacket is equipped with a vent pipe, which allows air to be discharged when there is air present in the circulating water inside the tank jacket. Restore the check valve at the outlet of the circulating water pump as soon as possible.
