Discussion on the selection of air separation steam turbines

Why are medium-extraction types rarely chosen for air separation turbines? Is it simply because there might be no users for the medium-extraction steam?
The design principles behind turbine selection are not well understood. Among the systems I have worked on, some were designed for heat supply, while others were intended for use in downstream process systems. In my opinion, the goal is to save energy and reduce consumption; by installing a series of high-pressure boilers and combining them with turbines, as well as temperature reduction devices, it is possible to meet the needs of different steam users.
The turbine to be selected depends on the factory’s functions and operational processes, with the appropriate model chosen accordingly. If the steam generated in the process is being used elsewhere, this helps to save energy consumption. The high-pressure section has already done the work, so it is relatively appropriate to use low pressure for heating and similar purposes.

For intermediate extraction steam turbines, the front and rear cylinders need to be separated, which increases the operational risk; they are not as simple as pure condensing turbines.
