In the installation of pressure pipelines, can 316L stainless steel pipes be used with 304 elbows and tees? Will the Special Inspection Agency approve it?
I hope someone kind will let me know that the pipes have been installed.
Why choose 316L for your pipes? Choosing this material is definitely based on the medium and other factors. . In this medium, can 304 be used? If possible, then the elbows and tees can also be made of 304.
It’s better to go with the lower option; using 304 material is sufficient. If 316L is used, then 304 will not meet the requirements of the design conditions and will not pass the inspection.

All the main materials are 316L; it’s likely that high requirements are placed on the medium used, otherwise there would be no need to spend such extra money
I really don’t understand how they could do that. We’ve carried out similar work in our company as well; it’s because the company wants to make use of its existing inventory instead of purchasing new materials, but these are all relatively minor adjustments.
Consult the professionals in the process engineering and materials fields at the design institute to determine whether 304 will be sufficient; if so, there will be no problems in the future. If it is confirmed by those experts that 316L is necessary, then the component should be disassembled and rewelded, as the wear on elbows and tees is greater than that on the pipes
