After replacing the filter cartridges of our self-cleaning air filters, a reverse blowing device was installed to enable their recycling. However, from the perspective of the backflow suppression effect, I personally think it’s not very effective. Has anyone tried this approach? Could you explain how it’s done, and what the results are after recycling?

How to operate reverse blowing? We tried it once by using instrument air to purge from the outside of the filter cartridge; the results were average. We usually replace it once a year.
The filter layer is located outside the filter cartridge; it is more appropriate to blow from the inside out~~

Blowing the required amount of instrument air from the outside, continuously at it, is also a good approach; we, on the other hand, blow from the inside out, using the pulse principle.
I guess manual backwashing is the preferred option. Replacing it once a year seems a bit extravagant. But I have a question: what are the criteria for replacing the filter cartridge? At what point does it become necessary to replace it?
It’s better not to try this; it’s almost impossible to clean the filter paper properly. It might work for short-term use in emergency situations, but it’s not advisable for long-term use. The logic is simple: if it were possible to reverse the airflow, filter cartridge manufacturers would go out of business :P
After all, they are exposed to wind and rain, so the filter cartridge material may age or the filter elements may get clogged; as a result, their performance when reused is likely to be poor. For our equipment, we cover the outside of the filter cartridge with a layer of filter paper, and when the resistance increases we simply replace the filter paper, which effectively extends the lifespan of the filter cartridge~~
We tried it before: manually removing them and using instrument air to blow through the inside of the filter cartridges. There was a lot of dust, and after reinstalling them, the performance was average; the resistance of the filter cartridges was more or less the same as before removal; Later, they simply replaced everything with new ones. It needs to be replaced once a year, and a model priced at over 200 is indeed quite expensive. The manufacturer probably has a unique method for handling it; otherwise, they wouldn’t recycle it
We blew it manually using pressure gauges; it was dirty and tiring, but the result was still good
