The book specifies that a 1m uninsulated section should be left at the inlet of the thermostatic steam trap. ”What is the reason for setting it this way? How do others do it?

Due to the working principle of thermostatic traps. If insulation is in place, it becomes difficult for the steam inside the pipes and in the transformer room to liquefy, and the trap is unable to detect temperature changes properly, resulting in abnormal operation of the trap. Therefore, there must be a certain length of pipe in front of the thermostatic trap that is not insulated.
I have always failed to understand the claim that it cannot be liquefied. Practical experience shows that bimetallic traps have no orientation; even if the steam used for heating is cut off, due to the tendency of hot water to rise, a certain distance in front of the trap remains warm (we almost always install them vertically).
There is no directionality. However, thermostatic steam traps belong to the category of thermostatic steam valves; in the absence of a cooling section, this can lead to air blockages. Thermostatic valves open only when they detect a certain temperature. If steam reaches the steam trap first and the condensed water follows, it takes a long time for the steam to condense, which means that the condensed water at the back end takes a long time to be discharged – this naturally has an adverse effect on the performance of the valve. So there must be a condensation section. Yay~~~ Yay~~~
