What is the purpose of cleaning the air compressor impeller? Our factory has a cleaning process, but it has never been used.
It’s still necessary to clean the impeller regularly! It can wash away dust! !
Some nozzles are turned on for a while to clean, operating at low load for cleaning
Failing to clean it for an extended period may cause changes in the dynamic balance of the impeller
A weak question: doesn’t this need to be washed? How do I wash it? What are the steps?
Consult the manufacturer’s instructions; operation will have a certain impact on the working conditions
The MAN centrifugal air compressors are equipped with dedicated cleaning pumps that use deionized water. The cleaning process is carried out step by step: the drain valve at the last stage and the bypass valves for each stage of the drain system are opened, the flow rate and pressure of the cleaning water are controlled, and any changes in the compressor’s vibration are monitored
To be honest, different manufacturers recommend different methods for cleaning. We have an air compressor unit that was in use for eight years without any cleaning. During a major maintenance session, it was found that the impeller was quite dirty; it was difficult to clean it, and there was also a risk of disrupting its dynamic balance if attempted. The manufacturer advised us to clean it first and then test the unit, and fortunately, the operating parameters didn’t change much. Later, a cleaning system was added, with cleaning done once every half month. After three years of operation, even large components were severely corroded; for example, the baffles on the flow guide pipes were corroded to the point where they resembled kitchen knives. So, if there is a cleaning system, it should be put into use right from the start. I’m not very familiar with the issue of dust accumulating on impellers, which can suddenly cause a loss of dynamic balance; but are there any components that are particularly prone to corrosion? If you want to install a cleaning system but the equipment is already quite old, it’s not recommended to do so unless you consult the manufacturer first
We also implemented online impeller cleaning, and afterwards impeller collisions occurred; the analysis indicated that the cleaning caused dust to fall, leading to rotor imbalance~~
