What are the organic solvents similar to carbon tetrachloride?

I am working on a sulfonyl chloride project; originally, carbon tetrachloride was used as the extraction solvent. The sulfonyl chloride dissolves in carbon tetrachloride, while the waste acid does not, resulting in separation of the two phases. The sulfonyl chloride obtained in this way is pure white in appearance, and the yield is high. But **tetrachloroethane is prohibited as a solvent; therefore, an appropriate organic solvent must be found to replace it. I would appreciate some advice from those who know more on this matter. Thank you! I am conducting experiments using trichloroethane, but the solubility of sulfonyl chloride in trichloroethane is too high – more than 5 times that in carbon tetrachloride. It’s not easy to precipitate the product; it’s a challenge indeed
Increase the amount of water used for washing the extract, and try increasing the number of washes
Do more pilot tests with concentrated solvents; the pilot tests are also quick.
