During the maintenance of the coke tower, the neutron source is stored separately in a lead container provided by the manufacturer. I’m worried that the removed transmitter might emit radiation; do I need to find a place to store it? ?

The manufacturer replied that after the neutron source is removed, its transmitter does not leave any radiation behind.
Why do transmitters emit radiation? Unless the lead container holding the radioactive source is not properly sealed and radioactive material leaks out, this is a serious accident; such a situation generally does not occur.
