How is the condensate generated by steam tracing in underground tanks returned to the main condensate pipeline?

After the steam condenses into condensate water, it still has to pass through a drain valve. Can the pressure of the steam alone be used to push the condensate water into the main pipe? How is this done in practice? I would appreciate some guidance from those who know more about this. O(∩_∩)O Thank you @ylb913

It depends on the back pressure of the main condensate pipe; you need to choose an appropriate destination for the condensate so that it can be discharged. In some cases, the condensate can be directly vented, or a condensate recovery tank can be installed on-site, with other means used to transport the condensate away. It is completely normal for condensate water to rise several meters; this is the case with most systems that handle steam and drain water.
