As the title suggests, has anyone had experience dealing with MTBE tanks? How did you do it? Let’s talk and exchange ideas.

Empty the tank by lowering the liquid level as much as possible to reduce material waste; if it’s not possible to empty it using regular pipelines, then a diaphragm pump and temporary piping must be used to transfer the oil, and in this case the quality of the oil will be affected. After the tank inversion is complete, energy is isolated. Nitrogen is used for displacement until the total hydrocarbon level meets the requirements; during this displacement process, oil and gas should be recovered or absorbed by activated carbon whenever possible, in order to reduce air pollution. Replace the qualified manhole, put on personal protective equipment before entering to check for damage to the floating disk. Any damaged or oiled floating disks as well as seals must be removed from the tank; if the level of combustible gases is too high, further replacement may be necessary. Once the total hydrocarbon levels are within acceptable limits, a fan should be used to ventilate the confined space and reduce its oxygen content, after which work can proceed.

There is no special difference in handling compared to gasoline and alkylation tankers.
