Are power cables allowed to have joints on the cable tray?

Are joints allowed on power cables within cable trays? The cables have already been installed, and during testing it was found that several of them are defective. Can these defective cables be repaired by using joints, or do they need to be replaced entirely? The device is in an explosion-proof area.
It’s best if there are no joints at all, but in some cases on-site, joints do exist; these joints also come equipped with temperature displays to prevent them from overheating.
The device is in an explosion-proof area; will there be no problems then?
Replace the whole thing, to avoid hassle and for peace of mind!
