At the bottom are: the inlet and outlet pipes (for feeding and discharging material), including those for reflux; currently, there is only one pipe for material entry and exit at the bottom of the tank. There is also a water removal pipe (used to remove water and impurities from within the tank). Additionally, there are instrument connections for measuring pressure, temperature, and liquid level. At the top are: an exhaust pipe, a vapor equilibrium pipe (used to balance the pressure across various storage tanks), and safety valve connections (usually two in number); when the pressure in the tank exceeds the set value, the safety valves activate to release pressure back to acceptable levels, after which they reset automatically, thus providing safety protection. There are also instrument connections for pressure, temperature, and liquid level. The tank has manholes both at the top and at the bottom.
There is also a nitrogen line, used to replace the gas inside the tank; it is generally used at the time of initial operation

The instruments located at the top include on-site pressure gauges, pressure transmitters, and servo level gauges. In addition, there is one manhole at each of the upper and lower levels of the spherical tank (an opening is made in the manhole at the water cut level, positioning it at the lowest point of the spherical tank)
