The temperature in our chlorate decomposition tank has been unstable recently; a few days ago it rose rapidly from 92 degrees to 95 degrees (within half a minute to one minute), which triggered an interlock shutdown. In these past few days, the temperature has dropped rapidly from 92 degrees to 80 degrees. The temperature control valve is designed to adjust automatically, but due to the rapid changes in temperature, the valve is unable to keep up with the adjustments. Dear sea friends, please help analyze the reason
If there are no significant changes in the process parameters (such as the flow rate and temperature of the brackish water), and if the pressure and temperature of the steam as well as the drainage conditions are normal, then there is a problem with the PID.
Is there a significant variation in the flow rate of the brine entering the heat exchanger?
I remember an incident that occurred in 2004; I was working in the vinyl chloride section of the PVC plant. The distillation tower was just being put into operation, and the temperatures, pressures, and operating conditions at the bottom and top of the tower were all normal. However, the liquid level control was inconsistent. We tried every possible solution, including having experts adjust the PID parameters, but the result was simply: it didn’t work. In the end, the distillation tower was disassembled for inspection, and plastic sheeting was found inside the tower sections, which was a surprising discovery. ------What I mean is that the process system hasn’t identified the problem; let’s try looking for it in the equipment from a different perspective.

I fully agree with Du’s view. For a while, we also couldn’t control the liquid level in our chlorate decomposition tank; no solution could be found from a process perspective. It was only after opening the tank that we discovered something inside it
What did you find? Resin has fallen off, but scaling still occurs
Raise it from 92 to 95°C; it might be due to a slow response of the control valve or a low flow rate of the saline at the inlet; Lower it from 92 to 80°C and check how the steam trap is performing. The heat exchanger is plate-type, so there’s a possibility that the inlet is blocked.

The flow rate of the saline entering the system varied not significantly, remaining within the range of 0.5 cubic meters. 3. The heat exchanger is of the plate type; it was checked on site at that time, and the steam trap also functioned properly
