Why is the lever arm L used when calculating the bending moment (L = H0 – l), where L represents the distance from the upper ear to the midplane of the spherical tank? Thank you
You must be referring to the moment under wind load, H0-l; that’s because there are tie rods between the pillars
The tie rod increases the stiffness of the lower half
