EGSB has no removal rate, but the gas production volume is normal

For the project that was recently under debugging, everything was normal before – the EGSB removal efficiency was around 80%. Overnight, this removal efficiency disappeared; the COD levels in the inlet and outlet water were the same, and VFA levels increased significantly. Production in the workshop continued as usual, with no abnormal wastewater being discharged. The problem is that the anaerobic tank produces normal amounts of gas, the pH is normal, and the effluent is very clear; everything is as it should be during normal operation, except for COD and VFA. Could some experts please help analyze what’s going on?
VFA can be utilized by methanogenic bacteria, and its increase leads to a decrease in methane production.
