When selecting a water pump, it is necessary to take into account the net positive suction head available for the system; but how is this net positive suction head determined? Is it already designed, or does it need to be calculated based on the inlet pipes, etc.?
The net positive suction head of the device is mainly calculated based on the conditions at the pump inlet, using parameters such as inlet pressure, liquid level height, and pipe diameter.
This is something that’s usually available on all pumps; at least all the pumps I’ve seen have it. If it’s not available, ask the manufacturer, and they will tell you as well
