How long does maintenance usually take in ordinary chemical plants? Is it necessary to send all on-site pressure gauges and transmitters for calibration during maintenance?
Chemical plant maintenance is usually carried out every three to four years. Taking preventive maintenance and the equipment’s service life into account, all on-site pressure gauges and transmitters must be sent for calibration during maintenance periods. However, considering the heavy workload during maintenance, the pressure gauges on site can be inspected before the maintenance work begins.
Considering the next maintenance session, do these need to be checked? Make the most of the parking time.
Pressure gauges and pressure transmitters are classified into three categories: A, B, and C. Those used on special equipment fall under category A and require inspection every six months, such as those in hazardous areas like safety valves or boiler drums. The operational data for Category B tests is verified periodically as needed, while for Category C tests verification can be done occasionally or not at all; it’s sufficient as long as the measurements are accurate.
It depends on the rigor of your safety supervision department, as well as the factory’s regulations. Logically, all of them need to be picked up. If your factory has the necessary testing qualifications, it will definitely require that all items be tested. If not, then money will be required; the manager will definitely only allow inspections of those tables that are necessary to conduct.
Back at the old factory, a major repair was carried out once a year, but this wasn’t always the case; the condition of the equipment would be assessed. The longest continuous operating period recorded at the old factory was just over two years. The place I’m at now, haha, is supposed to undergo a major overhaul once a year, but in reality it depends on what the managers decide.
